INVITATION: First European Days of Action Against the Blockade, Brussels, from 29th November – 1st
December 2017.
Dear Cuba solidarity friends,
We are delighted to invite you to the first European Days of Action Against the Blockade to be
held in Brussels, from 29th November – 1st December 2017.
Inspired by the Days of Action in Washington, we proposed the idea during the last European
Solidarity Congress of ICAP in Stockholm last year. We had the support of all of you to organise
such an event.
In cooperation with the European Parliament’s GUE/NGL (European United Left) fraction and with
the support of the Cuban Embassy in Belgium, the Belgian solidarity movement, Cubanismo, is
organizing two days of lobbying activity, conferences and a street action in the political centre of
Europe.
We are in a decisive moment for Cuban solidarity. On 16 June President Trump reversed some of
the recent advances in relations between the US and Cuba. In a hostile speech he announced
restrictive measures, including greater control of U.S. travelers to Cuba, as well as the prohibition
of transactions between U.S. companies and Cuban enterprises linked to the Revolutionary Armed
Forces, intelligence or security services. At the same time the European right is trying to jeopardize
the new EU-Cuba Political Agreement. We need to show the world that the blockade against Cuba
has to be stopped now.
Delegations from all over Europe are invited to come and join us.
Every EU country has representatives in the European Parliament, so let’s make our voices heard:
As EU citizens and voters we urge our MPs to work for better EU-Cuba relations and above all we
urge them to demand the USA government ends the inhumane blockade against the island, soon.
We are working on a list with names and information of various EP members on it (from all
different fractions) who expressed themselves about Cuba and Cuba/EU relations. Depending on
the nationality of the delegation members who are wanting to join us, we will ask for a meeting
with these EP members. If you have any contact with an EP member of your country, it’s important
to inform us. Every help possible to make of this a exciting lobby activity is helpful.

We provide accomodation (with breakfast included) nearby.
40 euros (1 night: 30/11) or 60 euros (2 nights: 29-30/11): this price includes accomodation,
breakfast and a participation fee
